Event Management and Entertainer Bookings

CASE STUDIES

We organise all sorts of events. Cocktail parties and gala dinners, award nights, conferences and meetings, meet and greet functions - with every one we start with a clean canvas and an open mind so we can develop a unique combination for each event. Here's just a few of the events we have realised:

PIZZA HUT AWARDS NIGHT

Brief: Create an elegant theme in line with the chosen venue.

The Pizza Hut Awards Night was held in the Forest Room at the Melbourne Zoo. This was an exclusive VIP awards night for Pizza Hut where the top franchise owners were recognised for their outstanding efforts. We met the guests as they strolled down through the zoo and animal sounds. We served pre-dinner cocktails by the small lake while the African Dancers circulated amongst the guests for photos. Inside the venue we used an African print and naturals for the décor.

Our roving photographer did an amazing job taking photos and placing all the shots on a website ready for all the guests to download the images free of charge. We had a photo card for each person on the table so the guests had the link to the photos from the night. The link remained live for 3 months following the event so the guests had plenty of time to share their achievements with friends, colleagues and family.

The African dancers, band and comic magician all added colour, movement and atmosphere to this very special, memorable and exclusive night.

Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau

Brief: Create an opportunity for travel professionals to network and promote Thailand as a destination

This was an opportunity for Dr. Simon A. Wallace, Honorary Consul General, Royal Thai Consulate General to address buyer organizations (corporate travel agents, incentive houses, meeting planners) about holding events in beautiful Thailand. We created something very special to do this by holding the event on a super yacht cruising Port Phillip Bay. MLS Management incorporated a unique entertainment program with an Elton John impersonator who not only looks like Elton, he sounds like Elton too! We managed to get his white baby grand piano on the upper level of the super yacht which created the most wonderful and fun environment for all the guests. We had onsite printing for all the guests to take away a photo memento from the night along with their handcrafted soap.

The super yacht environment gave guests a great opportunity to network. The relaxed atmosphere also presented the chance for the representatives from the Thailand Convention and Exhibtion Bureau to talk one-on-one with the travel professionals and promote Thailand as a destination.

This exclusive event was elegant and different, and Melbourne sparkled as we sailed at dusk in time for sunset across the water.

3 Day Conference - Queenstown NZ

Brief: To stage delegates' social activities with a winter wonderland theme

We gave the conference delegates a great view of Queenstown by transporting them up the Skyline Gondola to the restaurant that sits atop the steepest lift in the Southern Hemisphere where they enjoyed the welcome dinner.

The Conference Expo was held at the Queenstown Events Centre and the Winter wonderland theme looked amazing. Our male and female ski bunny models were a hit in our pamper lounge, and compere/comedian/magician Pat Trick had the audience rolling with laughter at the Berger Ball held at The Millennium Hotel.

Gemma's Bat Mitzvah

Brief: A bright circus theme with a games arcade

Gemma wanted a bright theme for her Bat mitzvah so she chose a carnival theme with plenty of lovely lollies. Her lolly table centre-pieces where specially designed and were bright and bubbly just like Gemma herself. The games arcade was a great hit with all her friends and family and was a perfect set up to have a sit down dinner, with a large dance floor overlooking beautiful Albert Park Lake. Gemma returned years later for some work experience at MLS Management at an event we held at Melbourne zoo.

Thai Songkran

Brief: Promote Thai Airways and the culture of Thailand

Songkran is a festival celebrating the traditional Thai New Year, held in April and marked by the throwing and sprinkling of water - an excelent theme to use for the night. We chose a venue by Docklands Harbour overlooking the water. Many dignitaries including his Excellency Mr Bundhit Fotipalalit (Ambassador of Thailand) attended this event and our MC John Deeks from Channel Seven was the perfect choice for this exclusive event with his utterly professional attitude and his ability to conduct official proceedings seamlessly. Our décor was rich gold with purple table runners, gold damask chair covers with beautifully created table centre-pieces including bamboo and exotic flowers. This event was full of gorgeous rich colour and movement.

Special entertainment included a troupe of Thai dancers who thrilled the guests with their exotic dance routine - just perfect for the night.

We had the client's logo incorporated into the desert - it was quite a talking point and reinforced the brand message. We also had our photographer set up an onsite printing facility so the guests could take home a personal photo (with an overlay of the client logo of course).

Mt Atkinson - Launch of a new Melbourne suburb

Brief: Publicise the launch of a new Melbourne suburb

MLS Management organised a very exclusive event to launch the new suburb of Mt Atkinson located in Melbourne’s west. This new suburb has a huge impact on the State of Victoria representing 70,000 new jobs. We had Peter Switzer, financial expert as our MC who spoke about the positive impact this project would have on Victoria. With a green field venue, MLS Management had to bring everything to the site. We created a huge marquee with a veranda overlooking the city of Melbourne, and all logistics including catering, decor, bathrooms, outdoor kitchen, state of the art AV and security were our responsibiliy.

Media were in attendance to cover this important event which was seen on the nightly news. MLS Management also designed and co-ordinated the event invitations (email) and follow-up to ensure a large crowd at the opening.

We chartered a helicopter to fly VIPS to the event and around the site, and a trackless train to ferry guests from the car park to the marquee as the verve flowed and the guests enjoyed the scrumptious catering by Epicure Catering.

50th Anniversary of Austrian Airlines

Brief: Celebrate Austrian Airlines in Australia and invite top industry professionals.

We commissioned a hand painted backdrop of the amazing Schönbrunn Palace in Vienna, draped the room in the Austrian airline colours, had vintage black and white Austrian flight attentant photos hanging from the drape line and our very own fountain commissioned from Opera Australia.

Our 18th Century costumed string quartet and opera singers created a wonderful atmosphere performing the Viennese waltz and German opera songs.

Our client was so delighted with their events, they flew MLS Management to Austria to see the real Schönbrunn Palace in Vienna as a thank you!

Two states - Melbourne and Sydney

National Australia Bank Digi Week

Brief: Week long schedule of presentations

This week of activities was a NAB initiative to celebrate all things Digital from 31st July to 4th August 2017. MLS Management was so proud to secure a project management role for 3-months operating from NAB’s head office. This major event spanned an All-Star cast of speakers bringing NAB staff and their customers the latest trends and innovations in the Digital World from a broad range of industries.

The event ran over one week in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane with a live broadcast of all speakers reaching the NAB network of 30,000 + people. It was an honour and a privilege to work alongside the accomplished NAB Digital Team in this support role. A real highlight of the MLS calendar! A special Digital Artwork by Amanda Morgan was also commissioned by NAB to celebrate Digital Week which was projected on the floor of the Arena at 700 Bourke Street, Docklands called GeniusLoci.

Launch of New Suburb - Cocktail Function with Formalities

Brief: Promote the approval of town plan for new suburb.

MLS Management witnessed history with this Special Launch Event of the suburb called Mt Atkinson. Planning is through and building shall now begin.

The event began with a Welcome and Introduction by Economist and MC, Peter Switzer, followed by an acknowledgement of the traditional land owners. “I would like to acknowledge the Wurundjeri People of the Kulin Nations as the traditional custodians of the land and pay my respect to Elders both past and present and young leaders of the future. “

The Hon. Minister for Planning, Richard Wynne spoke with great enthusiasm for this major development for Victoria, along with The Hon. Minister for Consumer Affairs, Gaming and Liquor Regulation & Local Member for Kororoit, Marlene Kairouz.

Mike Davis, General Manager Residential Development, Stockland and John Papagiannis, Director Development & Strategic Asset Management, Scentre Group have partnered MAH.

MLS Management event managed all the logistics for this major event.

Again with a green field as a venue, MLS Management had to bring everything on site. With such an exclusive event, the Catering, Marquee, décor, bathrooms, state of the Art AV, Musicians and security all had to create a space befitting this extraordinary piece of Victoria’s history.

This special launch event was seen on the nightly news with great media support.

Congratulations to all involved and thank you for choosing MLS Management to Event Manage this wonderful event.

Awards Night and Celebrations

Brief: Promote fellowship and celebrate annual awards.

The evening began with VIP Drinks and canapés with the Sponsors and the Celebrity Talent in the Newscorp Greenroom where photos were captured for the Sunday Morning Herald Sun.

An opening performance from magician Elio Simonetti captivated the audience and MC John Deeks seamlessly navigated through each award.

In keeping with the high calibre of the awards, VANA members were treated to a very special performance by two Australian stars from Musical Theatre coming together to perform for them. Jemma Rix recently shared in the lead role of Eva Peron with Tina Arena in Evita, and is one of Australian musical theatre’s prominent leading ladies, having starred in the stage hits Wicked and Ghost, along with numerous engagements to sing at events such as the Melbourne Cup, the NRL State of Origin, Carols By Candlelight and the Australian Olympic Team presentation night. Star of stage and screen, Rob Mills, has been the lead in shows such as Wicked, Ghost, Grease, Legally Blonde, Jesus Christ Superstar and he is currently a regular on Australia’s longest running drama Neighbours.

The AV crew did a wonderful job achieving exceptionally high sound and vision quality.

The night was capped off with fun in the photo booth and dancing the night away to one of Melbourne best bands, The Michelle Serret-Cursio Band. Photographer, Melissa Hobbs did an wonderful job capturing all the action during the night.

2021 Awards Night and Celebrations

Brief: Stage an event promoting fellowship and to celebrate annual awards.

It was truly a great night at the Regent Plaza Ballroom on May 1st, 2021.

After the cancellation of the VANA Awards Gala scheduled for 2020 due to covid-19, it was a joyous and exciting event to finally be together. It was well worth the wait. The ballroom looked stunning bathed in a blue wash, with mirrors, mirror balls and beads hanging from the candelabras beautifully pin spotted to dance in the light. Angela Pippos, our wonderful MC for the night introduced the opening entertainment called Glass Divas featuring soaring vocals and glass electric violin.

What a way to begin our sparkling awards, Angela exclaimed.

Shannon Noll was amazing and had everybody on the dance floor and has such a great rapport with people of all ages.
The night concluded with the great energy and talents of The Michelle Serret-Cursio Band who filled the dancefloor.
A big thank you to CEO Brendan Tohill and VANA Board, The VANA staff and The Regent Plaza Ballroom staff who worked tirelessly to bring this event to life in great style.
A big thank you also to Melissa Hobbs, our event photographer who captured all the wonderful moments during this stella event. Congratulations to all involved, particularly all the recipients who were recognised during the night. #VANAAWARDS21
